WATCH: The DoubleStar STAR10-P Puts .308 Power Into an AR-10 Pistol

A defensive gun, by definition, sometimes needs to incorporate more than just stopping power or the ability to easily conceal. Sometimes the situation calls for the arm to be widely adaptable, versatile and powerful. The rising popularity of AR pistols as a truck gun or for home defense has pushed the platform to new heights. And the DoubleStar STAR10-P .308 pistol excels in that space. We managed to put some rounds downrange at the recent Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous, and the STAR10-P impressed.

“Now the 308 pistol is a bit of a beast,” said Nick Collier, DoubleStar. “It’s a handful, but it’s a lot of fun. If you’re looking for a gun to put in your car, your tractor, something like that, this is it. It’s gonna put down any medium-, large-sized game, any varmints you may encounter on your farmland. It’s a nice, light package.”

The STAR10-P features several component upgrade designed to improve control of the weapon system or improve accuracy. From the CMC trigger group, to the Stronghold furniture upgrades, the STAR10-P is more on the high-end in terms of components. But the package blends to turn the powerful .308 pistol into a controllable fight stopper.

“This model comes with our Stronghold M-Lok panels already on it,” Collier said. “So you get a little bit more grip; it’s not going to slip out of your hands. There’s a lot of recoil on this little guy. We don’t want it jumping around too much.”
