DoubleStar is a manufacturer you should keep your eyes on. The Kentucky-based company builds some high-quality firearms, just about all of which is done with its own parts; you can’t say that about every manufacturer nowadays.

For the 2019 Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous, DoubleStar brought out a couple of firearms from its growing lineup. The two in question were the updated 3GR Competition Rifle and its STAR10-P .308 AR-10 Pistol. The latter caught our attention for a lot of reasons. Firstly, a .308 pistol is a lot of “thump” in a small package. Honestly, we could’ve shot it all day. But another reason was the furniture on the gun, all of which belonged to DoubleStar.
The DoubleStar Stronghold Pistol Grip
Pistol grips aren’t necessarily a dime-a-dozen, but they do run with very similar characteristics. However, DoubleStar’s Stronghold Pistol Grip noticeably stood out on its STAR10P AR-Pistol.
The first thing we noticed were the textured G10 grip panels. They’re customizable and made for a really comfortable grip as we pounded away on steel with that lovely .308. It’s also the kind of grip purchase you’ll need with a .308 pistol in your hands. DoubleStar built the grip with purpose and function in mind and it showed.
After getting a grip on it — pun kind of intended — we focused on the lightweight nature of the grip. Some grips feel bulky and weighed down in the hand, but this wasn’t the case with the Stronghold. DoubleStar achieves this using an anodized aluminum frame. Overall, like everything we’ve handled from DoubleStar, the Stronghold Pistol Grip was a really nice touch. It made a noticeable difference when shooting the gun.
