The AR market just got a little more crowded with the introduction of the Lite 16M rifle by DPMS Panther Arms.
Hailed by DPMS as having “everything you need and nothing you don’t,” the Lite 16M gets its name from the M-111 lightweight modular free floating handguard that enables the end user to attach accessory rail sections for added versatility. The rifle is chambered in 5.56 NATO and sports a 16-inch 4150 chrome moly barrel with a carbine length gas system and 1:9 twist rate; non-silencer-mounting AAC Blackout flash hider to reduce muzzle flash; forged 7075 T6 aluminum upper and lower receivers; and a mil-spec fire control group.
The Lite 16M also boasts a Pardus stock; A2-style pistol grip; and a same plane railed steel gas block that allows for the use of detachable and flip-up iron sights. Rounding out the Lite 16M is an overall weight of 7.5 pounds unloaded and an overall length of 32 to 36 inches.
The DPMS Lite 16M ships out with one 30-round Magpul PMAG and comes with a suggested retail price of $869.
