When Aimpoint announced the new Duty RDS back in January, it certainly sparked a lot of interest. Thanks to ongoing global supply chain issues, the new optic wasn’t immediately available. However, as of this week it is.
Aimpoint Duty RDS Price and Features
As mentioned during the launch, one of the best features of the new Duty RDS is the price point. Coming in at $499, it’s an affordable option that still features Aimpoint’s signature durability. Here’s a quick look at the key features you’re getting for your five hundred bucks:
- 2 MOA Dot
- 30,000 hours of battery life on setting 7
- Submersible in water to 80 feet
- Comes with mount, battery, and wrench
- Advanced optical lenses for enhanced light transmission and ultimate dot clarity
Duty RDS Applications and Use Cases
The intended use for the optic is right there in the name: “Duty.” Law enforcement officers are on the front lines of the rising violent crime in America. However, a lot of times they have to purchase their own equipment, or are issued poor quality or ancient gear. The price point on the new red dot optic from Aimpoint means it’s offering quality, but at a point where it’s not going to break the bank.
If an officer is setting up an individual patrol rifle, for example, the Duty RDS won’t kill the entire budget. An individual officer will still be able to afford a decent weapon mounted light, such as the 1500 lumen Surefire Scout light.
Again, the new Duty red dot sight from Aimpoint is available now on Aimpoint’s website and at select retailers.
