According to the presser, the 9mm FX1—fully machined and hand built in the United States—sports American flag serrations on the right side of the stainless steel slide to give it a patriotic look, along with square cut cocking serrations on the left side. The gun includes the FX1 Snakeskin metal treatment on the frontstrap and VZ Alien grips. Ed Brown is also offering over 100 customization options on this 1911, including FX1 slide cuts; slide ports; recessed slide stop with serrated pin; one-piece magwell; and a flush barrel with a recessed crown.
The FX1 features a 4.25-inch barrel; 4.25-inch Commander slide; single stack Government frame with an integral light rail; and a ledge style, .156″ U-notch rear sight with a red fiber optic front sight. It weighs 40 ounces with an unloaded magazine.
This gun is offered in two different finishes: Industrial, which is a modern brushed stainless finish, and Dirty Olive Gen4, a two-color process that gives off a more urban look, the company says.
“When you consider that the Kobra Carry was introduced almost 20 years ago now, you can see that we are trend setters in custom handguns, it is just in the company’s DNA,” Ed Brown’s sales and marketing director John May said in a statement. This pistol is a game changer and will be the new standard by which others will be judged and once again a reminder that we are a force to be reckoned with!”
The Ed Brown FX1 is available at a MSRP of $3,875.
