In what has to be the most ridiculous piece of political grandstanding in recent memory, Warner Brothers announced it removed guns from the new Looney Tunes series for HBO Max. The classic cartoon returns Buggs Bunny and all the gang, but this time Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam re-emerge without guns. Ironically, this move makes WB the biggest Fudd of them all.

No More Guns for Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam
OK, let’s take a step back for the uninitiated. The Urban Dictionary defines “Fudd” as slang for “a ‘casual’ gun owner; eg; a person who typically only owns guns for hunting or shotgun sports and does not truly believe in the true premise of the Second Amendment.”
So some gun owners only like wood and blued guns. They support hunting, but they don’t like the scary black guns. Standard magazine capacities and forward grips give them them the rumbly belly. And true Patriots and supporters of all things 2A know that Fudds are the worst. Now Warner Bros. not only wades into the Fudd pool, they just bought the naming rights forever.
“We’re not doing guns,” executive producer Peter Browngardt told The New York Times. “But, we can do cartoony violence — TNT, the Acme stuff. All that was kind of grandfathered in.”
And there it is. Violence in our cartoons, well that remains OK. We see Elmer with a freakin’ scythe trying to remove poor Bugs’ head. You can literally shove a stick of dynamite down someone’s mouth. Your cartoons can beat, stab, dismember or explode one another. Just no guns.
WB’s hypocrisy over violence sets news lows. While they attempt to play it off as some type of morally superior stance, it’s anything but. It says violence and killing or OK. But your constitutional right, well it suddenly doesn’t exist. Instead, it’s wiped away. It’s a hunter with no rifle; a cowboy with no sixgun. In short, it’s pure Fudd, the very modern 2A sense of the word.
