Everyday Carry Gear from Grim Workshop

Survival gear is, without a doubt, highly useful and needed in many unpredictable scenarios. The one drawback it may have is in a person’s ability to carry all the necessities that may be required for a particular crisis. It’s both extremely difficult and, if attempted, highly cumbersome. For those looking for everyday gear that is versatile and compact, Grim Workshop has solved this problem by creating numerous wallet-sized gear cards, dog tags, and compact kits that can aid in areas such as hunting and fishing, defense and escape, fire-making, first-aid, and even cooking while under emergency conditions.

All is definitely not grim when bad things come your way when this amazing company is watching your back and supplying you with quality, made-in-America gear.

Everyday Gear Made in the USA

The Grim Workshop is located in the heart of Texas, and its quality standards exemplify what made this country great over the past centuries. Their founder has worn many hats, from ranchers to farmers, artists, and knife makers. The good people at Grim Workshop believe in getting the job done with hard work, sweat, and unrelentless drive, and they poured that way of life into their vast line of products.

Everything that comes out of the workshop and to the consumer is made in the USA, with most items designed and engineered in their home state of Texas. Product quality is at the top of their must-have list, and every item produced is backed by a warranty that gives the user peace of mind if any piece may fail in any way (Spoiler Alert). Their products rarely, if ever, fail!) All their tools share three main principles that truly form the backbone of the company and its products.

The first is that their tools are reusable. It’s no one-and-done everyday carry gear here. Second, they need to be compact. Life-saving tools are left at home because they are too bulky and are no good to anyone. Finally, they need to be truly functional. Cheap, poorly constructed emergency gear is not helpful if it breaks on first use or doesn’t finish the intended job.

Construction and Durability

Grim’s products are unique because they can be small enough to fit inside a wallet and are tough and durable enough to stand up to repeated, hardcore use in the field. The reason for this is simple: they don’t skimp, cut corners, or make false claims about their products. Instead, they focus on designing and engineering what works in real-life environments.

They put their products under rigorous tests and correct any issues that don’t meet their own rigid standards. Finally, they use top-rated materials such as stainless steel and high-carbon steel. They offer an innovative retention system that allows the tools to be reusable and accessible with minimal effort.

Survival Cards

Survival cards are the true bread and butter of the Grim Workshop’s amazing inventory of everyday gear items. These cards mimic the shape and dimensions of a typical credit card, are constructed of stainless steel, and are only one millimeter thick, yet are still tough-as-nails when being used. Survival cards are the main category. Still, there are numerous options, with many general-use cards and activity-centric varieties that serve specific urban and rural purposes.

The variety of cards includes outdoor-use versions such as  lure and fishing cards, a bushcraft card with hooks, a knife, and broadhead arrow tips, a hot shot card for fire-making, a multi-spear tip card, and a surf and turf card, to name a few (many more outdoor cards are available!) For urban use, a person can choose between a bypass tool card, multiple lock pick cards, an escape card, and even a glow card for when light is needed in a pinch. These cards can fit easily inside a wallet or a back pocket with ease and stack well to create a mini kit with a tiny footprint.

Dog Tags are Everyday Gear

Believe it or not, the Grim Workshop can get even smaller with everyday gear in the form of dog tags worn around the neck. These micro tool kits are created from the same quality materials as their survival cards and offer many of the same tools and gear as their big brothers. They all come with pre-punched holes for adding cordage or ball chains to make wearing around the neck easy and personalized.

Also, like the survival cards, all dog tag tools are reusable and replaceable when the task is completed. They weigh in at half an ounce each (yes, .5 of an ounce), so you can add several to a chain, and it won’t be uncomfortable or bog down the wearer. Gear items, such as fishing hooks, saws, lock-picks, wrenches, spearheads, and more, are all available in dog tags from Grim’s Workshop.

Mini Kits

Finally, Grim Workshop offers mini kits that combine cards and other small gear into one cohesive group to serve a specific purpose. You can choose from kits like a lock pick and escape kit, a sewing and repair kit, a mini fishing kit, and a survival card bundle, to name a few. They take the guesswork out of what you should buy and make it convenient and fast for the buyer.

Most mini-kits are housed in a tin canister, similar in size and shape to the famous “Altoid’ container that many people use to create their survival mini-kits. These canisters are compact and can fit easily inside a front or back pocket, yet can hold several survival cards, each containing numerous mini tools. Grim takes one more step smaller and offers micro kits, too.

These are about half the size of their traditional kits and hold task-specific tools on card-like strips. These strips share all the characteristics of their larger cousins, like durable construction, stainless steel material, and their famous tool retention system.

From Grim to Happy

The variety of gear, made-in-America quality, and compact size make the Grim Workshop a go-to company for urban and rural gear. Many people may have a bugout bag ready for an unexpected emergency, but will they have access to it 24/7? Probably not, so Grim decided to make all the necessities that can travel with the user daily, essentially creating a wearable bugout system. So, remember, the next time you’re in a dire situation, your solution is obviously all in the cards!
