Polymer-framed pistols continue to improve and grow in popularity. They are lightweight, rugged, reliable and affordable.
The concept of using polymer has reached most every aspect of the pistol world save one, including single-stack 1911s, and European American Armory (EAA) Corporation is now offering an affordable, Tanfoglio-made, single-stack 1911 with a polymer frame and chambered in the venerable .45 ACP.

Built with a number of common features as well as some extras, the EAA Witness Elite Polymer 1911 looks to be a solid entry into the basic 1911 market. At $580, its retail price is right in line with other polymer-framed .45 ACP pistols.
The pistol starts with a polymer frame that uses steel inserts. The full-length slide features dovetailed sights. Many of the Witness Elite Polymer’s parts are interchangeable as well, making it a candidate for upgrades, though it’s ready to go right out of the box. Tanfoglio also included a Commander-style hammer, an integral accessory rail, an extended beavertail grip safety and flat mainspring housing.
