Texas-based rifle maker F&D Defense has announced that its XAR Invicta rifle is now shipping.
Touted as the first-ever folding AR platform rifle, the XAR Invicta is capable of being deployed in less than five seconds without any tools, and unfolded equally fast by “using a spent case to unlatch the hook and handle and fold the rifle where the barrel meets the upper,” the company says. When folded, the rifle is secured via a detent.
The XAR Invicta boasts some innovative engineering, including the use of a tapered barrel extension and receiver for a solid lockup, accuracy and reliability. Meanwhile, the company says the folding mechanism is guaranteed to last for the rifle’s life, and the hook and handle are made from hardened, drop forged alloy steel.
Chambered in 5.56 Nato/.223 Rem, the XAR Invicta ships with a Pelican Air 1525 hard case, as well as a 20-round magazine. MSRP is $2,499. See below for specs.
