Retro Return: Smith & Wesson Brings Back Model 610 Revolver in 10mm

As 10mm becomes popular again, more manufacturers have brought out guns in this powerful chambering. Companies have done this because shooters understand the benefits of 10mm for both hunting and self defense. Smith & Wesson is the latest to do so with the Model 610 revolver based on the powerful N-frame.

“With the recent increase in popularity of the 10mm Auto cartridge, we felt it important to offer a 10mm revolver for personal protection and handgun hunting,” said Jan Mladek, General Manager of Smith & Wesson and M&P brands. “The N-frame revolver has long been a staple in big-bore revolvers, and the 10mm is a natural caliber addition to the line.”

This reintroduced revolver features stainless-steel cylinder, frame and barrel. It also comes with black synthetic finger groove grips, black blade interchangeable front sight with an adjustable white outline rear sight.

The 610 is available in two barrel lengths — 4 inch and 6.5 inch. It comes with six-shot moon clips, which also allow these revolvers to fire the still powerful, but more affordable, .40 S&W cartridge.

The two barrel lengths provide options, whether one wants to use one for hunting, backcountry protection or self defense. And the dual caliber ability means that shooters can load down, with a lot higher ammunition selection, to reduce chances of pass through.

Revolvers are popular and reliable, especially when chambered in such a great caliber.
