Originally created for the Belgian Gendarmerie in the 1930s, the FN FAL was a lighter-weight rifle with an advanced gas-operated design. Likewise, it featured a higher box-fed magazine capacity and longer range than previous platforms. Having served more than 90 armies and police forces during its service, it earned the title of “Right Arm of the Free World.”

When the Belgian Gendarmerie upgraded their service rifles in the 1980s, the FALs were put into storage—until now. Recently 400 FN FAL model 50.00 rifles were rediscovered and painstakingly assembled into parts kits. The kits follow import guidelines, allowing them to be imported into the United States and sold to enthusiasts and collectors.
As a result, FN America is holding sweepstakes for these 400 rifles between November 1, 2022 – January 21, 2023. Each month FN America will randomly select over one hundred winners and give them the opportunity to purchase a parts kit for $899.99.
However, be aware that winners will not receive a parts kit, just the exclusive opportunity to purchase a parts kit. In addition, you must enter each drawing separately. Entries do not carry over, month to month.
Although some parts have slight imperfections from prior use, metal components are mostly free of blemishes or pitting. This is due to the use of long-term storage oils. However, some parts, such as the bayonets, remain unused since storage 30+ years ago.
The kit includes many original FN FAL parts, including:

Due to federal regulations, FN is limited in what parts can be imported. So, you will be responsible for finding aftermarket FAL parts to complete your rifle. In order to remain compliant with the ATF, you are responsible for sourcing the following parts from the United States:
- Receiver
- Barrel
- Central block pin
- Blank firing device
- Piston rod
- Flash hider
- Central block
- Magazine
- Selector
Grand Prize
Aside from the 400 parts kits, FN will be rewarding a grand prize to one lucky winner. FN America will select a winner in February 2023 who will win a free semi-automatic FAL rifle (FN/Aftermarket receiver). The prize has a value of $2,300.00. However, unlike the parts kit, the grand prize winner will receive the rifle, not just an opportunity to purchase it.

The FN FAL rifles were painstakingly turned into parts kits that require assembly. Due to the complex nature of this build, FN America recommends that you have a skilled gunsmith complete the assembly. Although I really like do-it-yourself projects, I think this is one time that it would be a good idea to take the advice. This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of history; special care to get it right is sound advice.
