FN SCAR-SC: Now Available to US Law Enforcement Agencies

Back in November, FN Herstal unveiled its brand new FN SCAR-SC subcompact carbine at the Milipol Paris conference. Firearm enthusiasts were abuzz at the possibility of getting their hands on the gun, but hopes were dashed when it was revealed that it wouldn’t be offered to U.S. customers. That’s about to change—for LEOs at least—as FN Herstal’s American subsidiary FN America has announced that the FN SCAR-SC is now available to U.S. federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.

Chambered in 5.56x45mm, the FN SCAR-SC boasts a compact design which the company claims makes it ideal for special response teams and SWAT. Its overall length measures 21.10 inches collapsed and 25.71 inches fully extended, and it weighs in at 6.94 pounds. It also features a 7.5-inch cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined, free-floating barrel with a compensator and flash hider.

The gun is being offered stateside as select-fire only with a cyclic rate of fire of 550-650 rounds per minute, and a non-reciprocating charging handle and telescoping buttstock. The gun sports an ambidextrous safety lever and magazine release, as well as an enlarged trigger guard; adjustable gas regulator; and hard-anodized monolithic aluminum receivers with MIL-STD-1913 accessory rails at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock positions.

The FN SCAR-SC will make its U.S. debut at the 2018 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, Jan. 22-26.
