The Seattle Seahawks parted ways with long snapper and former Green Beret Nate Boyer this week.
Boyer got to play in the Seahawks’ preseason opener against the Denver Broncos on Friday, where he led the team onto the field carrying the American flag.
After not playing in the first half, Boyer snapped five times in the second half.
“It’s obviously disappointing a little bit, but I shouldn’t even be here. I shouldn’t have even gotten this opportunity,” Boyer told NFL.com. I obviously worked for it and all that, but there are so many people that never had this sort of a chance, so I look at it that way.”
“If I could just inspire one person, that means a lot to me. And the fact that I was able to touch a lot of people with this journey, that’s huge. That’s what it was all about to me. It’s all about representing my brothers in arms and my country,” Boyer added. “… This feeling that I have right now, this ‘failure,’ does not feel bad. … I feel like I’m on top of the world right now.”
