Franklin Armory's Gas-Operated F 17-L Rimfire

Chambered in 17 Winchester Super Magnum, Franklin Armory newest addition is something truly innovative.

The all new F 17-L is the “first ever gas-operated semiautomatic rimfire” according to the company.

The F 17-L features a custom designed gas piston system with a rotating locking bolt that is very similar to the original Eugene Stoner design. The rotating locking bolt action is far safer and more reliable than the traditional blow back designs because of the 33,000 PSI this round produces.

According to Franklin Armory:

For restricted states such as California, having a semiautomatic rifle chambered in 17 WSM negates the need for a “Bullet Button” because rimfire rifles are not generally classified as Assault Rifles. Connecticut law would also appear to be exempt semiautomatic rimfire rifles, such as the F 17-L, from their Assault Weapons ban as well.
