The unidentified mother told FOX 5 that she was about to take her grandson to his doctor’s appointment and literally had one foot in the car when another car suddenly pulled up right behind her, blocking the driveway. A man then jumped out of his vehicle and approached her.
“He said ‘Whose car is this? Give me the keys,'” the woman recalled.
That’s when she started screaming.
“I started screaming so loud that my son who was inside at the time heard me and came out to help,” the woman said.
Armed Carjacker Foiled
The woman’s son grabbed a handgun, ran out of the house and opened fire on the suspect, hitting him more than once.
Despite getting shot, the suspect managed to drive himself to a nearby fire station in a bid for help. He told the firefighters working there that he was the victim of a random shooting on I-85.
Police arrived on the scene and were able to ascertain the real story. As it turns out, the woman’s neighbor had been targeted by the same man just a few minutes before her.
The suspect, identified by Fulton County Police as Trystan Delk, is expected to survive his injuries. He now faces armed robbery charges.
The Georgia woman told FOX5 she’s glad her son was there with a gun. She also said she’ll be ready next time something like that happens.
“I hope he doesn’t come back,” the woman said. “Because this time I’ll be waiting.”
