Georgia Homeowner Uses Gun To Scare Off Intruder

An armed woman used a gun to scare off an intruder at her home in Savannah, Georgia last week.

According to WJCL, Kim Lyle was asleep on the second floor of her home on Jones Street along with her two children when she was awoken by the sound of the back door chime downstairs. She immediately knew somebody was breaking into her house.

“I grabbed my gun and I went to the stairs and I screamed,” she says. “I said, ‘I am armed. And I will shoot.’

She then dialed 911.

“I was shaking so bad, I was scared,” she says. “Because I didn’t know. I mean someone was in my home, I was completely violated and vulnerable, I didn’t know what to do. I was really scared.”

Police arrived and arrested 54-year-old Nathaniel Snowton after finding him on the balcony of a carriage house nearby.

Lyle says Snowton was able to gain access to her home through an unlocked door leading into her courtyard and entering through the garage into the home.

“My garage door, he had stuck some kind of something under it, raised it up to where it hit the sensor, and it just opened the garage door,” Lyle said.

Lyle was left shaken after the incident.

“He completely violated me and my space, and it’s horrible for me and my children.”

As WJCL reports, Snowton has a long rap sheet that includes three arrests for burglary and theft over the past five years.
