Featuring the best of both worlds, the Glock G49 MOS Gen 5 combines a G17-size slide and G19 grip. The new model is available through TALO Distributors member distributors and is promising to be a popular crossover—answering consumer requests. However, as of now, production and availability are limited, but product is continually arriving at member distributors over the next several weeks.
The Glock G49 MOS Gen 5
Starting with a G19 grip frame, the G49 promises to be easy to conceal due to its shorter properties. The grip features the familiar aggressive Glock stippling for enhanced control during courses of fire. Likewise, the front of the squared trigger guard also features texturing for positive retention.
Just forward of the trigger guard is a single-slot Picatinny rail for adding a light or laser. In addition, the grip features an ambidextrous slide stop and takedown lever, as well as a reversible magazine release. As a result, the G49 is ideal for both right- and left-handed shooters.
Riding atop the frame is the G17 size slide with forward and rear cocking serrations. The G17 size slide offers a longer sight radius between the drift adjustable rear sight and fixed blade front sight. This delivers improved overall accuracy and performance.
However, for those who prefer to run an optic, the G49 features the Glock Modular Optic Platform (MOS). It comes with a single MOS adapter plate that fits Trijicon, Ameriglo, and Holosun (except 509). However, if you have an optic that is not compatible, additional options are available through Glock.
Housed within the slide is the 4.49-inch barrel chambered in 9mm. Rounds are sent downrange via the standard Glock Safe Action trigger. The G49 is available with either a 15-round magazine or a 10-round magazine for compliant states.
