The GOSAFE: Is This the Most Convenient Pistol Safe Yet?

Locking up your firearm when not in use is not only a good idea but the law in some jurisdictions. However, it can be difficult to have a safe with you wherever you go. This is where the GOSAFE Mobile Mag and Mobile Safe come in.

Constructed of a high-strength polymer housing, the GOSAFE comes in a Magazine and Safe version. The Mobile Mag provides a 10-round capacity, while the Mobile Safe is inert and cannot accept rounds. Each model includes a Camlock locking mechanism, delivering the highest level of protection, according to the company.

Each model includes a unique-to-user, high-security key with additional keys available once you receive your product. Once locked, the locking mechanism locks the GOSAFE in place and blocks the trigger. As a result, when in place and locked, the GOSAFE cannot be removed, and the pistol cannot fire. Even with a round chambered.

GOSAFE is currently only available for Glock, 17, 17L, 19, 19x, 34, and 45. However, select Smith & Wesson M&P and Sig Sauer models will be added soon. Additionally, the design of the GOSAFE provides full compatibility with all holsters. So, you do not need a special holster if you carry your pistol with the Mobile Mag.

Editor’s Note

Just a couple of thoughts on this. First, the Mobile Mag is good for storing your firearm, but I would not recommend carrying it locked. You don’t want to have to try to unlock it during an emergency. It is intended more for a quick security solution that you unlock before holstering your pistol.

Second, if you can afford dedicated safes in your home and vehicle(s), it is still a good idea to do so. The Mobile Mag and Mobile Safe are solid field expedient options. However, there is nothing that would prevent a criminal from taking the pistol and figuring out how to get the lock off later.

Even if they can’t get it off, you are still out a pistol and have to deal with the police report. Either way, it will still be a bad day.

But GOSAFE does make for a great backup option for those times when you are away from any of your safes.
