This is why we can’t have nice things. An Internet video taken from Facebook shows a man critiquing a pistol. And in doing so he completely destroys every conceivable gun safety rule. I mean, he points the thing right into his own eye! It’s absolutely cringeworthy in every way.

Man Breaks Every Gun Safety Rule

So we make videos here at Athlon Outdoors. We know the drill. And we clear weapons all the time and film at every angle, etc. So we understand some precautions might have been taken. But in this cut, we can’t see any of that. So with apologies to the guy in the video, somewhat, he just becomes an example. The video clearly shows the gun pointed right back at his own face. And we just can’t get past that one. So let this video serve as another reminder in gun safety, which must continuously be reinforced to all of us.

We mentioned the four gun safety rules. We’ll focus on the Jeff Cooper version, from our friends over at Gunsite Academy.

1. All guns are always loaded.

The man clearly breaks the first rule, repeatedly. He waves the gun all around, flagging himself in the face. He keeps his finger all over the trigger. All guns are assumed to be loaded, at all times.

2. Never let the muzzle cover anything which you are not willing to destroy.

Cleary, our hero blows this one completely out of the water. He covers so many body parts, there might not be much left if he NDs at each flagging.

3. Keep your finger OFF the trigger until your sights are on the target.

He repeatedly talks about the grip and the extended mags while his finger rides the trigger. Even if he hadn’t flagged his own face repeatedly, this alone would be enough to bring criticism. We’ve seen countless NDs into walls, ceilings and more. Don’t play around with your finger on the trigger. Just don’t.

4. Always be sure of your target.

Finally, you have to know exactly of your target, and everything beyond it as well. We are all 100-percent morally, ethically and legally responsible for every bullet we send downrange.
