More than 100 disabled veterans and injured active duty military participated with a total attendance of 275 including family members.  The day was also shared with many HAVA volunteers and competitive shooters to make for a great day of fellowship and activities for the Kentucky/Tennessee military community.

Every military attendee received two meals and a backpack of outdoor products and marveled at Byron Ferguson’s archery exhibition.  Vets and family members alike shot 10 stages of fire while they watched their kids enjoying air soft ranges and bounce-houses.

At the end of the day, all participated in a raffle of hunting and shooting prizes that included a dozen guns and numerous shooting accessory products.

Shooting sports companies, through HAVA, covered 100 percentof the cost as our industry continues to show its commitment to the long term recovery of disabled veterans and their families. This Family Day at Rockcastle was hosted by Trevor Baucom who is himself a disabled veteran, professional shooter and long-time HAVA volunteer.

“Family days continue to be the backbone of HAVA’s delivery of the industry’s support for the military community, now completing our eighth year of continuously broadening service,” HAVA Chairman Tom Taylor said. “We’re very proud of our 18-state hunt series as well, but it’s the Family Day format that allows us to make the most comprehensive impact on the entire family unit which has given so much of their lives to the cause of freedom.”
