Henry Issues Safety Recall on Certain 45-70 Lever-Action Rifles

A recent discovery of a safety issue affecting certain lever-action 45-70 Gov’t rifles has caused Henry Repeating Arms to issue a recall notice. Henry identified the issue internally during test firing, leading the company to issue an immediate recall for its customers’ safety.

Henry 45-70 Lever-Action Rifle Safety Recall

Under certain conditions, it is possible that some of the rifles may unintentionally discharge without the trigger being pulled if the hammer is released or dropped from the cocked position. This only pertains to .45-70 lever-action rifles manufactured between December 14, 2022, and January 11, 2023.

The issue relates to firing pins that may not meet specifications. As a result, the company will replace the firing pins free of charge. Henry says it will complete the replacement in the order the firearms are received. But the company will make every effort to minimize the turnaround time.

According to Henry, any firearms obtained before December 2022 are not subject to the recall, and no action is necessary. However, owners of a Henry lever-action .45-70 manufactured after that date should discontinue use immediately. To prevent the possibility of death or serious personal injury, please follow the recall details below.

The list of models affected by this recall are as follows: H010G, H010GAW, H010GAWP, H010GCC, H010X, H024-4570.
