Some sneaky big news broke yesterday from HK-USA. The company announced the return of the HK SL8, the import-legal version of the famed G36. Stateside fans of all things HK and European-styled semi-autos will no doubt be excited for the SL8.
At first jump, HK let out very little information so far. We do know the rifle features a cold-hammer forged barrel with a recessed crown. Meanwhile, a free-floating bull barrel utilizes HK’s known cannon grade steel. The G36, however, needs little introduction here. A longtime stalwart of the HK line, it owns an enviable reputation as a martial arm since its introduction in the ’90’s.
HK sneakily let the cat out of the bag in a Facebook post yesterday. The soft launch immediately caught the internet by storm, with internet fans weighing in with a flurry of comments. Judging from the majority of the comments, there will no doubt be a ton of interest in HK’s newest import.
In any event, the SL8 brings another option for semi-auto fans. Chambered in .223 Rem., with unique HK styling, it should become a hit in quick order. Stay tuned here for more coverage and a full review when a rifle becomes available. In the meantime, visit hk-usa.com for more info.
