Lt. Richard Fleming of the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office told the Advocate that one of the victims fought with suspect Darteze Jack, eventually overpowering him, grabbing the rifle and shooting him. Jack, 25, was arrested and is being treated at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.

A second suspect, Devon Moore, 19, was found after his vehicle was stopped by police nearby. Both Moore and Jack are charged with home invasion and attempted first-degree murder. Police are still looking for a third suspect, who was in the vehicle with Moore but fled before he could be apprehended. He has not yet been identified.

Police recovered two guns at the crime scene, a handgun and a rifle, which are believed to have belonged to the suspects, KLFY said.
