Joseph McGuire a 64-year old resident of Archer, Florida called 911 and told dispatchers someone had come to the door of his home and kicked in the door to gain entry.

Deputies arrived a few minutes later to find 26-year-old Latreese Monroe with a gunshot wound to the torso area. First aid was provided to the woman before she was transported to an area hospital. Monroe later died from her injuries at UF Health in Gainesville.

Monroe had an extensive jail history in Alachua County. McGuire is cooperating with investigators and no charges have been filed at this time.
