According to ABC affiliate KTRK, the incident went down at around 11:30 a.m. at Bambu Desserts and Drinks last Thursday. One man walked into the establishment while two others waited in a getaway car outside. The man drew a gun, pointed it at the owner’s head and ordered him to open up the safe.
The owner recalled to KPRC that as he started to comply, the suspect then pointed the gun at his stomach.
“I thought I was going to die. He told me he was gonna shoot me,” the owner told CW39. “The gun could’ve went off, and it would have shot into my stomach. And that’s a .357, so I would have been dead.”
That’s when the owner tried to grab the gun, sparking off a tense physical struggle that ended with the owner eventually gaining control over the firearm.
“I cocked it back while he was still holding me, he gave me one last push to get some distance, and when he started to run I just started shooting at him,” the unidentified owner told KTRK.

The owner fired seven shots, all of which missed the fleeing suspect and his two accomplices.
Authorities arrived at the scene shortly thereafter and launched a search that quickly ended an hour later with the arrest of all three suspects.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the attempted armed robbery. The owner, for his part, says he has no regrets over his actions that day.
“They know now I’m not an easy lick. So, you come back, I will kill you next time,” he said.
