The law, which takes effect July 1, allows those with an enhanced license, as well as retired law enforcement officers, to carry concealed weapons on certain parts of campuses within the state.

In March 2014, Idaho’s legislature passed the aforementioned bill permitting concealed weapons on campus, making it the seventh state to permit guns on campus.

Some of those campuses plan on increasing security with the new law, according to the Seattle Times.

North Idaho College (NIC) in Coeur d’Alene will provide its security officers with bulletproof vests plus training related to concealed-weapon laws, and it may expand its seven-person security force by one full-time and one part-time position.

There are limitations to the new law, as it does not allow for concealed carry within a dorm or residence hall. Also banned from concealed carry is any auditorium or stadium with seating for at least 1,000 people.
