India, Israel to Build Missile Defense System

India and Israel are teaming up to build an integrated anti-missile system. A scientist with the India’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) said the as-yet-unnamed program has been approved, and a contract will be signed within the next six months.

The new missile defense program — which will include several different defense contractors such as Rafael and Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), as well as Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) — will integrate the Prithvi Air Defense (PAD) system with a new radar being built by BEL and IAI.
