IWI Ships Out 5.56 Galil ACE with Stabilizing Brace After ATF Letter to SB Tactical

In the wake of the ATF’s sudden reversal on its position that the SB Tactical pistol stabilizing brace couldn’t be shouldered, IWI US has announced that its 5.56 Galil ACE pistol equipped with an SB Tactical side-folding stabilizing brace is now shipping to wholesalers.

Initially designed to help disabled vets fire an AR pistol, SB Tactical’s brace can be attached to the forearm via the provided strap, cheeked and now shouldered. It offers more control and stability for the end user.

“We were as relieved as anyone to hear that the ATF had come to the inevitable conclusion that the legality of a firearm isn’t changed by the way somebody holds it. Now that the Galil ACE pistol can be used to the full extent of its capabilities, I’m certain gun owners everywhere will be glad to know it’s now shipping to wholesalers everywhere in 5.56,” Michael Kassnar, IWI US’s VP of sales and marketing, said in a statement.

This 5.56 Galil ACE sports an 8.3-inch chrome-lined, cold hammer forged barrel with a 1:7-inch twist; 30-round magazine capacity; reciprocating charging handle on the left side of the milled steel receiver; full-length two-piece Picatinny top rail; fully adjustable Tritium front post and 2-Dot Tritium rear aperture iron sights; and a Picatinny tri-rail forearm that comes with built-in, slide on/off rail covers with pressure switch access. The overall weight without the magazine is 7.6 pounds. With the stabilizing brace extended, it’s 27.5 inches long. Folded, it measures 19.5 inches.

The suggested retail price of this Galil ACE—which isn’t for sale in California or Massachusetts—is $1,849. IWI says mag capacity restrictions may apply in other states.
