“The National Guard has signed a contract worth RUB 8 million [USD 128,020] for 26 SV-98 sniper rifles with the Kalashnikov Group. The firearms will have been delivered to the customer by 20 November,” an unnamed source told Russian state-owned agency TASS.
The Russian National Guard will reportedly get the latest variant of the SV-98, which is chambered in 7.62x54R and features a 25.5-inch barrel. Built on an aluminum chassis, the rifle also includes an adjustable skeletonized buttstock; two MIL-STD-1913 rails for attaching accessories; and a 1P69 Hyperon 3–10×42 riflescope.
In addition, this rifle has an overall length of 50 inches; overall weight of 12.1 pounds; and trigger pull of 2.2 to 3.3 pounds. It also comes with a quick-detachable suppressor, and a bipod. A monopod is integrated into the lower part of the buttstock, TASS reported. Fed from a 10-round magazine, the rifle is designed to be accurate out to 1,000m.
