However, Kimber is doing it a little different, which is par for the manufacturer. Instead of using polymer, Kimber produced an all-metal, compact, striker-fired pistol in 9mm.

“The striker-fired EVO SP is the ideal choice for shooters that demand a dependable, feature-packed, compact-size firearm with the benefits of all metal construction for reduced muzzle rise,” said the company in a press release.

The EVO SP pistol features a grip system that eliminates hardware on the grip surface. Additionally, its magazine release can be configured for right- or left-handed shooters. However, one of the most interesting features is the striker indicator. It provides shooters both visual and tactile confirmation that the gun is cocked.

Kimber also included ledged tritium night sights. The ledge allows users to conduct single-hand manipulations, if needed. The sights also provide a sight picture regardless of light conditions. Additionally, users can disassemble the EVO SP without have to pull the 6- to 7-pound trigger. This is a nice safety feature.

Four Models Available

Kimber is making the EVO SP in four models — the CS, CDP, TLE and the Two-Tone. All contain the standard features. However, the CS, which stands for custom shop, comes with Stiplex front and rear cocking serrations, Stiplex front strap checkering and G10 inspired black and gray grips and backstrap. It also features a stainless-steel slide and barrel that have a FNC finish and matching frame cuts. This accents the slide and appearance, making it as gorgeous as it is functional.
