As far as subcompact 9mm pistols go, the Kimber Micro 9 lineup is among the best.
We put three of our contributors — Dave Bahde, Mike Detty and Fred Mastison — on the Micro 9 pistols at the recent Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous in Gateway, Colo. The three pistols that hit the range were the Micro 9 CDP, Micro 9 Woodland Night (LG), and the special edition Micro 9 Rose Gold.

The Micro is set up like a 1911, and as the name implies, the series is micro sized. If you are familiar with the 1911 platform, then the transition to a Kimber Micro will be a smooth one since the controls and ergonomics are very similar to a 1911.
The thumb safety, slide release and magazine release are just like those in the 1911 design. What’s more, the single-action trigger on each Micro pistol is crisp and easy to master.
Here’s a closer look at the pistols we used on the range.
Kimber Micro 9 CDP
The Micro 9 CDP (Custom Defense Package) is based around being easy to conceal and comfortable to carry. Featuring tritium night sights, the pistol has 30 lines-per-inch front strap checkering and an ambidextrous thumb safety, with a special Carry Melt treatment that rounds and blends.
Kimber Micro 9 Woodland Night (LG)
Complete with a matte black slide, gray frame finish and OD green Crimson Trace Lasergrips (red laser), the Micro 9 Woodland Night has a smooth trigger pull, mild recoil and the intuitive operation of a 1911.
Kimber Micro 9 Rose Gold
The Micro 9 Rose Gold is a personal defense handgun that combines vibrant style with a host of performance-enhancing features. The Rose Gold is part of Kimber’s special edition Micro 9 series.
