As far as effective semi automatics for military and law enforcement go in 2014, the new Lancer L30 line may be the top of the crop.
The Lancer L30 series of rifles are large caliber, precision semi-automatic rifles that accept the Lancer L7 Advanced Warfighter Magazines and other SR25/DPMS pattern magazines. Built around the patented L30 receiver and unique upper receiver-handguard assembly, the L30 series of rifles offer the performance required for a variety of modern sporting, law enforcement and military applications.
The foundation of the Lancer L30 is the patented lower receiver design that incorporates an oversized magazine release button, ambidextrous bolt release lever and a removable magwell extension. The magwell extensions are precision machined from billet aluminum, with features that will match the lower receiver. The extensions are made to tolerances that eliminate the potential for rattling when the rifle is fired.
The magazine well extension attaches to the lower receiver using a captured rail. The extension locks into place using the standard front takedown pin. The L30 ships without the magwell extension attached, or in a standard configuration, but simple instructions are provided for the shooter that desires to upgrade with this accessory.
