Firearms and firearm accessories manufacturer Lancer Systems is introducing their Lancer Active Shooter Response Kit, brand new for 2014. This accessories kit is designed for use by law enforcement agencies and officers who want add the speed of the Lancer L15 lower receiver and the Lancer L5AWM magazine to an existing patrol rifle.
According to a press release, the Active Shooter Response Kit comes in both stripped and complete versions. Each kit comes with three translucent L5AWM magazines; one of each of the 10-, 20- and 30-round capacities. This kit also enables the end-user to carry 30 extra rounds of ammunition and reload in under two seconds.
The stripped variant of the Active Shooter Response Kit comes with a semi-assembled L15 lower receiver with a tactical mag well, a FAB Defense GL Stock, and a single point sling mount from Lancer Systems. The pivot pin, bolt release and mag release are pre-installed on the lower. The manufacturer suggested retail price for the complete lower kit — which comes assembled and ready for an upper receiver — is $384.98.
“So far, the feedback we’ve received from law enforcement agencies and through training seminars focused on the Active Shooter Response Kit has been incredibly positive,” said Ty Weaver, Director of Special Operations & Training, Lancer. “Officers are constantly telling us they need a way to make their rifles lighter, faster and more accurate. Many times, however, budget constraints do not allow for entirely new equipment purchases. The kits provide officers immediate improvements to their current weapons to better ensure their safety out on the street.”
As the press release notes, the Lancer Active Shooter Response Kit is the second product to be introduced by the new Special Operations Division, which is designed for use by military and law enforcement. The first product was the Lancer Single Point Sling Mount, which is now being used by a US Navy Special Mission Unit.
