Las Vegas Police Officers Drop Suspect Wielding BB Gun
The May 10 incident began when officers responded to a report of an intoxicated man, reported reviewjournal.com. The suspect allegedly refused to turn down music from a local apartment. More troubling, the suspect allegedly repeatedly pointed a weapon at other residents.
Officer body cam and police aerial footage show the suspect, 42-year-old Jody Lucas, pointing what looks like a weapon from the balcony. Aerial footage shows him slowly, eerily, point the weapon in the direction of the helicopter. That’s when five Las Vegas police officers responded.
The suspect reportedly walked out his apartment, yelling at people by the pool, reported reviewjournal.com. He allegedly pointed a weapon at them. Body camera footage shows officers finally engage Lucas, as the suspect points his gun at officers. Footage shows an officer shoot the suspect multiple times, as Lucas falls to the ground.
Officers then performed life-saving measures on the suspect, according to reviewjournal.com. Officials transported Lucas to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Police said Lucas faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a protected person, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting a police officer with a deadly weapon and child endangerment. After the incident, police found two BB guns and said the suspect never fired. One was an Uzi replica, while the other was an HK MP5 replica.
