Gun owners in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania are filling safe-use classes offered by the local sheriff, due to an increase in concealed carry permits.

According to LancasterOnline.com, roughly 33,000 locals thus far have obtained a permit. As a result, all classes are at or near capacity with novice and experienced gun owners.

“We have had an outpouring of support for our classes,” Sheriff Mark Reese said. “The people with (permits) want to be responsible firearms owners and feel these classes give them the information they need to take that first step.”

Due to demand, Reese is now offering four more on the following dates:

• June 10, from 5-9 p.m.
• Aug. 26, from 5-9 p.m.
• Oct. 14, from 1-5 p.m.
• Dec. 11, from 5-9 p.m.

As LancasterOnline reports, classes take place at the Lancaster County Public Training Center. Each class is led by a certified firearms instructor, and an assistant district attorney will be on hand to answer questions. The cost is $40. Each class is limited to 40 people. Participants can bring unloaded firearms, but no live firing will take place.
