Los Angeles Police Shootout

The incident began when officers responded to a call of a family dispute. Police then encountered Carlos Torres Jr., who spoke with officers for several minutes. Officer body cam footage shows Torres step back into the house before pulling a concealed handgun from his waistband, firing on officers. Footage shows the officers return fire into the house before seeking cover.

Moments later, Torres escapes the house through the yard and runs out into the street. Footage shows Torres clearly still armed with a pistol. Several LAPD officers chase Torres, again firing on the suspect.

Torres then ran through a residential property, into an alley. “A responding Foothill Division, Gang Enforcement Detail unit, saw Torres in the alley and stopped their patrol unit at the mouth of the alley,” said an LAPD statement. “Torres again raised his handgun in the direction of the officers, at which time a third (officer involved shooting) occurred. Torres collapsed in the alley and was taken into custody without further incident.”
