Louisiana Woman Opens Fire On Home Invader

An armed Louisiana woman shot at a would-be home invader earlier this month.

According to a press release from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, the 53-year-old female victim was at her home in the 200 block of Marigold Street in Mount Airy when Randy Alexis, 49, attempted to force the door open. In fear for her safety, the woman grabbed a handgun and opened fire in the direction of the door.

Undeterred, Alexis managed to gain entry to the home, at which point the woman retreated to the bedroom. Alexis eventually left, and the victim — who was thankfully uninjured — went to her neighbor for help.

Police arrived and Alexis was arrested by sheriff’s deputies at his home. He suffered scratches and superficial cuts to his hand as a result of broken glass from the door, the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office said. He has been charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling, criminal damage to property and violation of parole. Alexis has an extensive rap sheet that includes no less than 40 arrests in St. John the Baptist Parish since May 1984.
