Just like that, the LWRC SMG 45 might be the most intriguing entry of 2019 thus far. The new pistol caliber carbine incorporates the LWRCI‘s experience with the AR platform and combines it with an innovative delayed-blowback/short-recoil operating system. Historically, similar guns are chambered in 9mm, however, LWRC’s chambered its SMG 45 in the .45 ACP cartridge.

A Look at the LWRC SMG 45
The goal with SMG 45 was to combine “innovative features and comfortable ergonomics in a compact package,” LWRC says. Built around the U.S.-manufactured UMP magazine, the SMG-45 offers a completely new PCC in .45 ACP. The gun features many of the same controls and performance found in LWRCI’s gas-piston AR lineup.
“We listened closely to shooters, operators, and customers throughout the development of this exciting new platform for LWRCI,” says David Ridley, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Constructed of advanced aluminum and steel alloys, the SMG-45 utilizes a hard-coat anodizing, ferritic nitrocarburization, and nick-boron surface treatments. LWRCI also used a full-ambidextrous lower receiver, which includes AR-style controls. Meanwhile, the upper comes with an 8.5-inch cold-hammer-forged CrMoV steel barrel, LWRCI’s Modular Rail System, Rail Panels and Hand Stop. Lastly, an Ultra Combat Grip, Enhanced Fire Control Group and Magpul MBUS Pro Sights round out the features.
The initial SMG-45 launches as a pistol equipped with the SB Tactical SBTi folding subgun brace. It also comes with two 25-round magazines.
The first shipment of the LWRCI SMG-45 Pistol+Brace production models shipped the first week of July to an authorized LWRCI Wholesale Distributor or Premier Dealer with the highly anticipated models showing up at retail starting as early as next week, according to LWRCI.
