Working with Tisas for exacting standards, Military Armament Corporation enters the 2011 arena with its new MAC 9 DS. Likewise, the MAC 9 DS delivers a 17+1-round capacity and enhanced accuracy with an optic cut and light trigger pull.

The MAC 9 DS builds on a 4140 hammer-forged steel frame with a black Cerakote finish, providing long-lasting durability. In addition, a polymer grip module with a subtle yet firm grip texture offers a secure purchase and solid retention. Correspondingly, the front strap and mainspring housing include additional texturing to aid in retention.

Chambered in 9mm, the MAC 9 DS provides an overall capacity of 17+1 rounds and includes two Checkmate 17-round magazines. Magazine swaps are faster, thanks to the removable aluminum competition magwell with a black Cerakote finish. While not being fired, the 1911 is made safe via the ambidextrous thumb safety and beavertail grip safety.

The 4140 hammer-forged steel Tenifer QPQ slide features forward and rear cocking serrations for enhanced manipulation. Providing the aiming solution is a black serrated rear sight coupled with a fiber optic front sight. However, the slide also includes an optic cut for direct mounting of the RMR and 407c footprint.

It is worth noting that the rear sight is mounted to the optic plate via Glock dovetail. So, when selecting an optic, you might want to consider a model with a backup rear sight built into the housing.

Within the slide is the 4.25-inch bull barrel with an 11-degree target crown to reduce recoil and maximize accuracy. The button-rifled barrel features a 1:10 RH twist and a black Cerakote finish. Sitting below the slide, just forward of the trigger guard, is a four-slot Picatinny rail for attaching a light or laser.

The skeletonized hammer is actuated via the flat-faced skeletonized trigger nestled within a squared trigger guard with a high undercut. Correspondingly, the trigger is adjustable for overtravel and has a 4.75-pound (+/- .25-pound) pull.

The MAC 9 DS was designed by Military Armament and built to exacting standards by Tisas.
