Magna-Matic’s CRT-15 Carbon Cleaning Tool Gets Facelift For 2014

The CRT-15 carbon removal tool has been around for years thanks to the people at Magna-Matic. But the company decided to add a little something extra to one of its most popular tools for 2014.

Magna-Matic’s CRT-15 is a professional gunsmith’s tool for the removal of carbon build-up on the bolt carrier, bolt and firing pin of AR-15 family rifles. The engineered tool features a “dead-stop” reamer that fits into the bolt carrier to remove the carbon from deep dead-end hole.

The adjustable arm of the CRT-15 is designed to function like a small hand-held lathe. The bolt is placed on the narrow pin, which it can rotate on, then when the arm is brought down onto the bolt tail its scraper edge removes the carbon as it is rotated. The design allows the user to clean any bolt tail radius.

To increase the functionality of the CRT-15, for 2014 Magna-Matic has added scraper edges to clean the carbon off of the firing pin face. The hole that sits just behind the arm is where the user drops the firing pin into. The face of the firing pin will rest on two small scraper edges. The user must simply rotate the firing pin with light pressure to remove the carbon build-up.

The CRT-15 retails for $39.99
