Maxim Defense PRS Suppressor Balances Strength and Weight

Whether hunting or for the range, a suppressor is a nice addition. Offering sound dampening and recoil reduction, shooting suppressed makes pulling the trigger much more enjoyable. With that said, Maxim Defense offers its PRS suppressor that balances the fine line of strength and light weight ratio.

The Maxim Defense PRS Suppressor

Part of its MSX suppressor line, the PRS suppressor minimizes the increase in cyclic rate and gas blowback. Likewise, the primary design features include a significant reduction of sound signature, decreased flash signature, recoil reduction, and increased accuracy, according to the company.

With a state-of-the-art 3-piece MonoKore design, the PRS suppressor features a Grade-5 titanium and 7075-T6 aluminum construction with Cerakote/Type-III hardcoat anodized finish. As a result, it was designed to be the lightest suppressor for PRS shooting and hunting. Additionally, it offers strength in design, achieving an impressive strength-to-weight ratio.

Available in 6.5 CM and .308 Win, the suppressor drops sound well below hearing-safe levels. Specific reductions are based on firearm configuration, ammunition, barrel length, and atmospheric conditions. The average measurement, per MILSTD-1474D of 131.9dB on an 18-inch bolt action rifle, 6.5 CM, is measured at the shooter’s left ear.

The suppressor measures 7.9 inches in overall length and features a 5/8-24 thread pitch. When installed, it adds just 7.25 inches to the firearm’s length. In addition, the weight of just 10.8 ounces adds little to the forward weight of the rifle.
