Strength & Honor: Maximus Arms’ New 1911 Gladiator

Granted there were no firearms around in ancient Rome, but if Russell Crowe’s character Maximus in the Academy Award-winning movie Gladiator could have gotten his hands on a gun, you can almost certainly bet it would be the all new 1911 Gladiator from Maximus Arms.

Name aside, the new pistol evokes “Strength and Honor,” just like Crowe’s character preaches in the film.

The 1911 Gladiator is a .45 ACP firearm made with 17-4PH stainless steel. The steel itself is a precipitation hardened steel used in aerospace, medical, industrial and military applications that requires high corrosion resistance in extreme temperature environments.

According to Maximus Arms, the Gladiator is the only pistol on the market made from the same steel used in the manufacturing of the Vulcan 20mm Gatling Gun, Patriot Missile and Abrams tank.

The 1911 provides tremendous longevity by using components that are made using 17-4PH stainless steel, including the frame, slide, slide stop, thumb safety, grip safety, hammer and main spring housing.

To create the 1911 Gladiator, Maximus Arms took a traditional 1911 pistol and made more than 80 dimensional changes to improve the gun’s reliability, accuracy and functionality.

Maximus Arms offers multiple models of the 1911 Gladiator with custom features as standard equipment including match-grade barrels, high-rise beavertail grip safeties, flared magazine wells, front and rear slide serrations, polished feed ramps, adjustable triggers, undercut trigger guards, exotic wood stocks, and lowered and flared ejection ports.

The 1911 Gladiator has a barrel length of 5 inches with an overall length of 8.7 inches. It comes in with an unloaded weight of 36.6 ounces and a loaded weight of 45 ounces.

Available in a variety of finishes, including polished and melonite, the Gladiator retails for $1,661, which includes an airline-approved gun case, two stainless steel magazines, a cable lock and cleaning brushes.
