Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Bans Protests in Her Neighborhood

Well, it’s official: Lori Lightfoot’s hypocrisy knows no bounds. In a startling level of elitism, Lightfoot banned protests in her Chicago neighborhood. Her reason? She actually claimed she had the right to defend her own home.

Lightfoot Bans Chicago Protests in Her Neighborhood

An anti-gun mayor whose city falls victim to more gun violence than almost anywhere America and now she’s concerned about self-and home-defense. To quote South Park: If irony were made of strawberries, we’d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now.

“I think that residents of this city, understanding the nature of the threats that we are receiving on a daily basis, on a daily basis, understand I have a right to make sure that my home is secure,” Lightfoot told the Chicago Tribune.

We’re all reasonable here at PDW. We, too, believe you carry the unassailable right to defend your home and loved ones. But before you side with Lightfoot, remember the mayor’s own words recently in support of the Biden-Harris ticket:

“I need a leader in Washington, D.C., who is willing to take on the gun lobby and do what’s right for our children and our cities,” she said. “That is not President Trump, we need Joe Biden.”

And therein lies the rub. The anti-gun crowd says the guns need to go. But the elite among them will always maintain the protection they need via those same guns (via armed security). So Lightfoot’s latest decree just becomes the latest example of the elitist leftism.

“I’m not going to make any excuses for the fact that, given the threats I have personally received, given the threats on my home and my family, I’m going to do everything I can to make sure they’re protected,” Lightfoot told the Chicago Tribune. “I make no apologies whatsoever for that.”

Doing everything you can to protect your loved ones? Hm, sounds like something the 2A community has been saying for decades. Oh, the irony.
