According to McCann Industries, they see their new “Puffin Wave” as something of an ugly baby in their line of custom knives. But they are also quick to add, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” If a knife works, it doesn’t take long for its owner to forget what it looks like.

dscn0621.gifThe Puffin Wave is made from precision flat ground O1 alloy; the slightly re-curved blade is about 5-1/2 inches long, 1-1/2 inches wide and about 3/16 of an inch thick. It is heat treated by Ramtreat, an Aero-Space Mil Spec heat-treat facility in Kent, Washington, to a HRC 56-58, making it tough, but still easy to sharpen. The blade is parkerized, which not only results in a black finish, but it also provides a matrix to better hold lubricating oil.
