Mesa Tactical Adds SureShell Carrier for Mossberg and Remington

Mesa Tactical is moving fast when it comes to adding compatibility to its SureShell Carrier line. Earlier this month, we reported the release of the accessory for the Beretta 1301 (below). And now, the company adds the Mossberg 590 Shockwave and Remington Tac-13/Tac-14 shotguns to the lineup. And each model features a full-length Fallon rail.

As with models for other platforms, the latest shell carriers are available in either 6061-T6 aluminum or high-strength polymer. In addition, like previous models, the aluminum version features a robust Santoprene elastomer shell retention system. Similarly, the durable polymer carrier features a dual rubber friction system. As a result, your shells will stay in place, even during dynamic shooting scenarios.

The carriers for the Shockwave and Tac-13/Tac-14 feature integrated Picatinny rails that run the length of the barrel. This allows for the attachment of optics, lights, or other accessories. Likewise, they also feature M-LOK mounting slots, further expanding the accessory mounting options. The Remington Tac-14 and Mossberg Shockwave have two slots (one on each side), and the Tac-13 has two slots on the left side of the barrel.

Installing the SureShell Carrier to the Shockwave or Tac-13/Tac-14 is simple, utilizing the pre-drilled and tapped mounting holes on top of the shotguns. In addition, each model is secured to the receiver via a lightweight aluminum back plate. Once installed, the rail also makes tactical reloads easier by providing a shroud for the barrel, offering a safe handhold.

“The appearance of short-barreled Shockwave-based shotguns from Remington and Mossberg has been the most exciting development in the shotgun sector in the last few years, said Mesa Tactical President Mitch Barrie, “But performing a tactical reload on a stockless shotgun can be a little tricky. The full-length Fallon rail makes it easier to grip the weapon in front of the receiver while reloading, particularly when the barrel is already hot.”

On June 8, 2023, Personal Defense World reported:

Last year we reported that Mesa Tactical released the SureShell carrier for the Benelli M2 and M4 (below). The carrier not only holds four to six 12-gauge shells for fast retrieval, but it also features an integrated optic mount for the RMR footprint. Now, just over a year later, the company adds Beretta 1301 tactical shotgun compatibility to the carrier. If you’ve wanted to add optics compatibility to your Beretta, read on.

The SureShell Carrier is available in your choice of 6061-T6 aluminum or high-strength polymer. Aluminum versions also feature a black Type 3 hardcoat anodized finish for extended life.

In addition, the aluminum version incorporates an internal elastomer shell retention system, eliminating the need for flexible plastic shell retainers. Likewise, the polymer version, made from injection-molded glass-filled nylon, features an innovative dual rubber friction retention system.

Installation of the SureShell Carrier is easy by utilizing the factory-drilled and tapped receiver holes. Once installed, the carrier allows for the direct installation of optics with the RMR footprint. However, unlike previous versions, this has a precision machined mount instead of a Picatinny rail. For this reason, optics with the Trijicon RMR footprint can co-witness with the shotgun’s factory ghost ring sights.

The carrier is available in either 4- or 6-shell configurations. However, the polymer version is currently only available in the 6-shell configuration.

“Our SureShell shotshell carriers have always drawn quite a bit of attention from law enforcement professionals,” said Mitch Barrie, President of Mesa Tactical, “But many of these customers were not prepared to install the Trijicon RMR sights needed and mount the shell holders. So, designing a system for the semi-automatic platforms themselves seemed like a logical next step.”

On May 19, 2022, Personal Defense World reported:

You might have noticed; optics are all the rage now. And why wouldn’t they be? What’s not to love about fast target acquisition and improved accuracy? Add a good reflex sight, like the Trijicon RMR, to the already popular shotgun and you have a winner on your hands. The Mesa Tactical SureShell Carrier not only adds an RMR mount but also a six-shell carrier for fast access.

Constructed of 6061-T6 aluminum the SureShot is as rugged as your Benelli. Likewise, the Type 3 hard coat anodized for flat black durable finish keeps it looking great after hard use. However, if you prefer a lighter-weight option, it is also available in a polymer version.

The polymer version employs injection-molded, glass-filled nylon yokes, secured to the aluminum backplates by brass threaded inserts. In addition, both versions include an innovative dual rubber friction retention system, holding your shells firmly in place.

Similar to Mesa Tactical’s SureShell carriers with integrated optics rail, the RMR version replaces the Picatinny rail with precision machined Trijicon RMR mount. As a result, the smaller RMR optic allows for co-witnessing with the factory ghost ring sights.

Available for the Benelli M2 and M4 shotguns, the SureShell easily mounts via drilled and tapped receiver holes. The aluminum version comes in your choice of four- or six-shell, while the polymer is available in six-shell only.

Availability

The Mesa Tactical SureShell Carrier with RMR Mount is available now, with MSRP of $93.00, $95.00, $110.00, $115.00, $160, $180, or $185, depending on the model. For more info, please visit MesaTactical.com.
