Minnesota’s law enforcement agencies took to Camp Ridley’s 53,000-acre regional training facility in early August to take part in the Law Officers Combat Kinetics Unarmed Panoply, or  L.O.C.K.U.P., combat program.

With law enforcement, security and military personnel in mind, L.O.C.K.U.P. “teaches arrest and control maneuvers for all levels of physical resistance and aggression,” according to PoliceCombat.com.

The Brainerd Dispatch reported:

With a primary focus on self defense, several officers from various agencies took part in hand-to-hand and weapons training during their time at Camp Ripley. The result is that police, security and military personnel can better protect themselves and the public they are sworn to serve.

… Part of the training involved in an intensive five-day, in-depth arrest and control confrontation training program. The course is based on de-escalation tactics and physical manipulation techniques that fully integrate all weapons systems of law enforcement.

“L.O.C.K.U.P. was created with the principles of unarmed police combat and controlling tactics with basic fighting skills to be used for all levels of physical resistance and aggression,” LOCKUP staff instructor Liam Duggan told the Brainerd Dispatch.
