Minnesota: Wife Uses Gun to Scare off Husband’s Attackers

A woman used her legally-owned gun to scare off a group of young men violently attacking her husband in St. Paul, Minnesota last week.

According to CBS Minnesota, 32-year-old Bruce Chang was returning home from work when he encountered a group of roughly 15 to 30 young men gambling on his driveway. The men began assaulting him, throwing rocks and stabbing him with a stick right below the eye.

“I didn’t know I was stabbed but I felt the pressure and fell to one knee,” Chang said. “I immediately pushed off, because you got to survive.”

Chang had recently grown fed up with the amount of crime in the neighborhood and obtained a concealed carry permit for protection. He isn’t allowed to take his Smith & Wesson M&P40c to work, so he didn’t have it on him when he pulled into his driveway last Monday.

Fortunately, Change’s wife also has a concealed carry permit, and she came out of the house and scared off the attackers with her gun.

“I’m also thinking that might be a deterrent factor, because my wife was able to come out of the house with her piece,” Chang said.

Bloodied and bruised, Chang managed to take a picture as several men fled the scene in a burgundy Saturn sedan. Police are still looking for the suspects.

Chang told CBS Minnesota he’s glad he and his wife obtained concealed carry permits to protect themselves.

“I just want to let people know you should feel safe coming out of your own home,” he said.
