Missouri Bill to Extend Voter Registration Deadline for Military

Members of the military returning from deployments will soon have an easier time registering to vote. According to the Associated Press, a new bill in Missouri would extend the voter registration deadline for members of the armed forces and their families stationed overseas to as late as the Friday before an election.

Under current Missouri law, people must register to vote one month in advance, or the fourth Wednesday before an election.

The proposed bill has already passed the Senate in Missouri. It is now awaiting approval in the House. As the AP reports, the changes would apply to civilian government employees and their families who are working outside the U.S., in addition to religious and welfare organizations helping service members.
