A Missouri bill that would broaden the state castle doctrine law and place a cap on certain concealed carry fees has been approved by the House of Representatives in a 115-34 vote.
According to the Associated Press, the legislation expands the current Show Me State castle doctrine law — which allows a person to use deadly force against an intruder in defense of themselves and their property — to include house guests, such as a baby sitter, who would be protected from lawsuits in the event of the use of said force if given permission to stay at somebody else’s home.
In addition, concealed carry applicants wouldn’t be charged more than $100 for fingerprinting or background checks under the new measure.
The bill now heads to the Missouri Senate for consideration.
