SHOT Show: Mossberg’s Compact Cruiser AOWs, 590 Shockwave

Mossberg is certainly making its presence felt at SHOT Show 2017 in Vegas. The North Haven, Connecticut-based gun maker is showing off its 590A1 and 500 Compact Cruiser AOWs (Any Other Weapons), as well as the 590 Shockwave. Check out the video below to see the Mossberg Compact Cruiser AOWs and Shockwave in action.

Any Other Weapon is the classification given to these pump-actions by BATFE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives). They each require a $5 tax stamp for transfer, as well as the required NFA transfer paperwork.

The Mossberg Compact Cruiser AOW

Built on Mossberg’s legendary 500 action, these Compact Cruiser AOWs are both made for smooth, reliable operation and feature non-binding twin action bars; positive steel-to-steel lock-up; an anti-jam elevator; and dual extractors. Meanwhile, they also have lightweight, anodized aluminum receivers, as well as Mossberg’s universally-recognized ambidextrous top-mounted safety.

The Compact Cruiser AOWs come with an ATI T3 pistol grip, which is constructed of reinforced polymer and can absorb recoil energy before reaching the shooter’s hand. The Compact Cruiser AOWs also have contoured polymer foregrips with a durable, webbed strap. The foregrip can be folded up against the mag tube or down to mitigate recoil.

The 590A1 Compact Cruiser AOW has a 10.25-inch cylinder bore barrel with a front bead sight; a cleanout mag tube with 3+1 capacity; a metal trigger guard; a metal safety button; and an anodized aluminum receiver with Parkerized steel finishes. The 500 Compact Cruiser AOW has a 7.5-inch cylinder bore barrel with a front bead sight; 2+1 capacity; an anodized finish on the receiver; and a Parkerized finish on the barrel and mag tube. MSRP on these beauties ranges from $910 to $980.

Mossberg’s Shockwave Joins the Party

Also being shown at SHOT this year is Mossberg’s 590 Shockwave, which is classified by BATFE as a “Non-NFA Firearm,” and as such doesn’t require a tax stamp for transfers. This compact 12-gauge pump-action features a 14-inch barrel with a bead sight; non-binding twin action bars; positive steel-to-steel lock-up; an anti-jam elevator; dual extractors; Mossberg’s ambidextrous top-mounted safety;  a durable, lightweight, anodized aluminum receiver; and Shockwave Technologies’ durable, glass-filled polymer Raptor grip, from which this firearm gets its name. The 590 Shockwave is 2 ¾ and 3-inch capable with a 6-round total capacity. For even more info, please visit Mossberg.com.
